Services to Residential Care
Fondation pour L’Enfance Terre de Paix has a long history in the provision of family-based alternative care services to children living in hostile environments.
However, despite all our efforts to resist the harmful impacts of institutionalisation, we have had to readjust our residential care program in view of pursuing our work in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The residential care program consists now in accompanying and coaching extremely vulnerable children together with their biological parents in what is called family-in transit homes. This activity is carried out through community-based networking with other NGOs. State agencies such as the National Empowerment Foundation and health services are enlisted as well in this program.
A psycho-socio-pedagogical approach is used all through the processes of identifying children and families, assessing their needs and workability, moving them to our residential care services and providing them with the necessary skills and support in the required fields of intervention.
The personnel have been and is on a continuous training program to handle very complex situations.
