Germination and Harvest

At the nursery, with the little ones, caregivers have organized an activity about how to sow mung bean seeds. We’ve shown mung bean seeds to the kids and they were able to touch and feel them.

We showed them how to spread them over in a tray on a wet towel and the need to water them every day. And then, they are ready for use as food when they have germinated. We explained the benefits of mung bean to children and a week after, we had our harvest.

Children were enthusiastic at seeing this transformation. They harvested the mung bean and gave them to Mrs Jeannick, our cook, to be used in fried noodles. The children ate happily, knowing how the seeds had started to grow each day, had been transformed up to when they were able to eat them.
