residential care

The concept of rights, democracy and overall development may all sound like mere words or slogans or at best, advocacy tools. Our service delivery structures however have all been conceptualised, designed and made to function on the basis of what our institutional setting has provided in its philosophical values and approaches. Every single move matters when it comes to bringing relief to children in distress, to children facing hostile environments. This explains our choices for the following service delivery systems:

1. Residential care for children from hostile environments referred to us by the child development unit with a committal order from the Court. The uniqueness of our residential project rests however on

a. The setting up of group foster care families in the community to provide care for around six children per family unit and encouraging the conventional foster family to take charge of one or two children.
b. The setting up of youth homes for boys in need of greater autonomy and independence.
